Will there be a ‘Solo Leveling’ movie out next?

Solo Leveling has become one of Crunchyroll’s flagship shows following its second season, but the series’ future is somewhat uncertain.

Based on the Korean web novel by Chugong, the series places in a realm of gifted hunters who battle deadly monsters to protect mankind. Sung Jinwoo, a notoriously weak hunter, is given extraordinary strength through a mysterious program, which kickstarts a journey across various dungeons to discover the true source of his power.

The show’s second season came to an end in March this year, following its debut in January 2024.

Is Solo Leveling season 3 happening?

A third season of Solo Leveling has yet to be officially announced, but considering the show’s popularity, it’s likely it will return.

The big question is when? Prior to the season two finale, Solo Leveling producer, Atsushi Kaneko, suggested the show “may or may not” continue, which implies there might be a longer wait for a potential third season.

“With episode 25, which will be broadcast soon, the TV anime series Solo Leveling will come to an end, for now,” Kaneko said in a video feature.

‘Will this end be temporary or not? I honestly don’t know what the future will bring. With the encouragement and support of everyone watching, it may continue, or it may not. Personally, I really hope that it does.”

Could another movie happen?

Prior to season two, a film titled Solo Leveling: ReAwakening was released in cinemas. This served as a summary of the first season and featured a sneak peek at season two.

While nothing has been announced, if a third season is confirmed, it’s possible that another Solo Leveling film could be released to bridge seasons two and three. For now though, we’ll have to hope the show’s third season is announced sooner rather than later.
