Will there be ‘Supacell’ season two?
Supacell has quietly become one of the best Netflix shows of the year.
Created by Andrew Onwubolu aka Rapman, the superhero series follows a group of ordinary people in south London who unexpectedly develop superpowers and come together to fight off a secret organisation trying to control them.
The series is led by Tosin Cole as Michael Lasaki and Adelayo Adedayo as Michael’s fiancée Dionne Ofori. Other cast members include Eddie Marsan, Nadine Mills, Eric Kofi-Abrefa, Calvin Demba, Josh Tedeku and Rayxia Ojo.
All six episodes arrived on Netflix on June 27, 2024.
Has Supacell been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing (July 24), Netflix has not renewed the show for a second season.
An announcement regarding the show’s future will likely be soon though, and considering the positive critical and audience reception, it’s certainly looking likely that it will return.
Has the show’s creator said anything about a second season?
Creator and showrunner Rapman told RadioTimes.com he has planned a story which spans three seasons in total so far, but the decision of whether it hits that point is down to Netflix.
“I told them that I want three seasons,” Rapman said. “I suppose we have to see how season one performs. But I know I’ve very much made clear that I want to do three seasons minimum.”
He added: “I’ve got a three-season story in my head. [I’m] not saying it can’t go over. But right now I know where it goes to. I know where… what the story is from up to season three.”
