What Is Wizards of Waverly Place About?

In case you need a refresher on what Wizards of Waverly Place is about, it follows three teenagers — Alex, Justin and Max Russo (Jake T. Austin) — who come from a long line of wizards. The teens are trained to control their powers by their dad, Jerry Russo (David DeLuise), who gave up his magic in order to be with his human wife. As the teens help run their family’s sandwich shop in Manhattan, they also run into all sorts of problems both normal and magical.

Other cast members include Jennifer Stone, Maria Canals-Barrera, Dan Benson, Gregg Sulkin, Bridgit Mendler and Jeff Garlin.

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place takes place years after the original series, with Justin giving up his wizard life to settle down with his human family. Alex soon seeks him out to train a new wizard, Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown), who is both powerful and destined to save the world.
