Wu Lyf return with new song and announce live shows
Wu Lyf are back and have dropped a new single as well as a number of live tour dates – check out the details below.
The Manchester indie band confirmed they had reunited with a new update on their website, sharing a brand new single and revealing that they will be hitting the road across the UK and Europe later this year.
It comes after the band got fans talking earlier this year, hinting that a reunion was coming. According to Stereogum, one fan on Reddit claimed to have received a postcard from the group telling them to go to the worldunite.org website. When they did so, they found a mysterious clock counting down to April 2.
News of the return also comes after it was shared in February that Lost In Heaven – the group that frontman Ellery Roberts formed after Wu Lyf split in 2012 – were disbanding. They announced their time as a band was coming to an end with the farewell single ‘Creation Song’.
Now, a new six-minute single has appeared on Wu Lyf’s website, along with a new post on Instagram indicating that it is called ‘A New Life Is Coming’.

The new track includes an ethereal blend of instrumentals from the opening note, and gradually builds into ‘00s-inspired indie epic, reminiscent of what first put the band on the map and earned them a huge cult following.
“All the merry people,” Roberts sings in a smooth, sombre tone after the song builds up with the rich instrumental layering. “Taking their time, running out of air.”
You can check out the song by visiting the website and clicking the ‘Play’ button.
Earlier this week, the band dropped hints at a new announcement on their Instagram page, sharing both a black-and-white teaser of a jukebox in Manchester, as well as sandwich boards that had their logo on across the city. Check out the posts below.
As well as the new music, Wu Lyf have also announced a handful of new tour dates, including three UK shows at Salford’s Kings Arms. The gigs will take place later this month with the band set to play April 17, 18 and 19.
From there, they will head to Belgium on May 25 for a show at Les Nuits Botaniques in Brussels, before further shows in The Netherlands, France, Germany and Italy.

Wu Lyf formed in the summer of 2008, with their name standing for World Unite Lucifer Youth Foundation. They went on to share their debut album ‘Go Tell Fire To The Mountain’ in June 2011.
During their time as a band, the members – Ellery Roberts, Evans Kati, Tom McClung, Joe Manning – gathered a huge cult following with Johnny Marr a vocal fan.
In 2012, they started hinting at new material before deciding to call it quits. They confirmed the news while on stage at the Manchester HMV Ritz venue, with the frontman telling the crowd “Goodbye forever”.
“We all knew it wasn’t working,” drummer Joe Manning told NME in April 2013. “There’s no one explanation for it. There’s a million reasons that don’t amount to much more than it just didn’t work. No-one is trying to cover anything up. If it doesn’t work it’s going to break eventually.”
As well as the frontman going on to form Lost In Heaven, Manning, McClung, and Evans Kati then went on to make music under the name Los Porcos, along with three members of the band FAMY.
