WWE wrestling icon Sid Vicious has died aged 63
World wrestling champion Sid Eudy – aka Sid Vicious – has died at the age of 63.
His son Gunnar Eudy confirmed his father’s death after a long battle with cancer in a Facebook post yesterday (August 26).
He wrote: “I am deeply saddened to share that my father, Sid Eudy, has passed away after battling cancer for several years. He was a man of strength, kindness, and love, and his presence will be greatly missed.”
A six-time wrestling champion and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) icon, Eudy began his career in 1987 – calling himself Lord Humungous before later joining the World Championship Wrestling circuit.

During his time in the World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW), he adopted his most famous stage name, Sid Vicious, after the late Sex Pistols bassist.
He made his debut in the WWE, which was then the WWF, as Sid Justice in 1991, where he served as the special guest referee at the SummerSlam, alongside Hulk Hogan.
In a statement (via BBC News), the WWE said: “Sid’s reputation as one of the toughest and most thrilling superstars cemented his legacy in WWE, and his influence can still be seen in wrestling rings around the world. WWE extends its condolences to Eudy’s family, friends and fans.”
In 2001, he sustained a long-term leg injury in the ring but eventually made it back onto the circuit before retiring in 2017.
Fellow former WWE wrestler Diamond Dallas was among those who also paid tribute to Eudy.
