Zac Efron makes first appearance since Ibiza pool accident
Zac Efron has made his first public appearance since the incident in a swimming pool in Ibiza that recently saw him hospitalised.
In the early hours of August 3, the Greatest Showman star was pulled from a pool in a villa in Ibiza by two workers who found him “in distress”.
He was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure, later being released the following morning. It was later reported that Efron had dived into the pool and his chest hit the bottom, causing him to ingest a large amount of water.
Efron himself confirmed that he was “happy and healthy” just days after the incident, thanking fans for their well wishes and showing an image of him working out with weights.
Now, the Hollywood star, who rose to prominence in the High School Music series of films, made his return to the public eye with an appearance on Sunday (September 1) at the amFAR Gala at the Venice Film Festival. The actor was seen sporting a black suit and sunglasses, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Richard Gere and Swizz Beatz at the function.
Efron is set to star in the upcoming film Famous, in which he plays its two leading roles. Directed by Jody Hill, the actor will play Lancelot Blue Dunkquist, a film fanatic who happens to look exactly like movie star James Jansen, also played by Efron. The film is based on the book of the same name by author Blake Crouch.
More recently he starred as wrestler Kevin von Erich in The Iron Claw. In NME’s three-star review of the movie, James Mottram wrote: “Efron’s transformation into the muscle-bound Kevin impresses, while both British actor Harris Dickinson (Triangle of Sadness) and Jeremy Allen White bring wide-eyed intensity to their roles.”
