Zac Efron update: Further details of swimming pool injury released
Further details surrounding Zac Efron’s swimming pool injury have been released.
The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday morning (August 3) and led to the actor being pulled out of a pool in a villa in Ibiza by two workers who found him “in distress”.
He was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure and was released the following morning.
Efron has since shared an Instagram Story in which he said that he is “happy and healthy”. “Thanks for the well wishes,” he added. The message was accompanied by a picture of him working out with weights while resting his body on a gym ball.
Now further details have been released with TMZ claiming that the incident happened after the actor went for a swim with friends in the early hours of Saturday morning (August 3) when he decided to take a dive in the swimming pool.
The publication went on to say that sources close to the situation said Efron dived into the pool and ingested a large amount of water into his lungs when his chest hit the bottom.
He is said to have shown signs of distress before onsite security helped him out of the pool. Efron is yet to comment on or confirm any of the details of his injury.
It came after the actor appeared on stage with Martin Garrix during a performance at the Ushuaïa Ibiza Hotel and Beach Club last week. Footage of the performance captured him dancing alongside the DJ to cheers from the crowd.
Meanwhile, Efron is set to star in the upcoming film Famous, in which he plays its two leading roles. Directed by Jody Hill, the actor will play Lancelot Blue Dunkquist, a film fanatic who happens to look exactly like movie star James Jansen, also played by Efron.
The film is also based on the book of the same name by author Blake Crouch.
More recently he starred as wrestler Kevin von Erich in The Iron Claw. In NME’s three-star review of the movie, James Mottram wrote: “Efron’s transformation into the muscle-bound Kevin impresses, while both British actor Dickinson (Triangle of Sadness) and White bring wide-eyed intensity to their roles.”
