Zico and BLACKPINK’s Jennie drop new collaboration, ‘Spot!’
Zico and BLACKPINK member Jennie have released their new collaboration, titled ‘Spot!’.
The music video for ‘Spot!’ features Zico and BLACKPINK’s Jennie performing the song on a variety of sets, from a photo studio to a recording booth. Later, the duo gather with friends on a roof-top for a late-night party.
“As soon as I finished making the track, I knew it was executed to perfection without a doubt,” Zico said of ‘Spot!’ in a press release. “The charm of this single lies in its simple arrangement that evokes listeners’ excitement and desire to have fun.”
The rapper added that he “wanted to create a song that people can put on repeat, stripping away any unnecessary elements to emphasise the parts where I wanted to highlight most throughout the track”.
Zico’s last release was his July 2022 mini-album ‘Grown Ass Kid’, featuring the singles ‘Seoul Drift’ and ‘Freak’. Since then, the K-pop idol has launched the boyband BOYNEXTDOOR under his KOZ Entertainment, a subsidiary of HYBE.
The rapper also previously apologised for helping to popularise TikTok dance challenges in the K-pop industry, following the success of his 2020 single ‘Any Song’, which went viral on the platform after he’d created a dance to promote the track.
Meanwhile, Jennie released the song ‘Slow Motion’ with Brockhampton‘s Matt Champion, her first release since she launched her own label Odd Atelier. The singer later revealed that she and Champion had worked on the song more than “three years ago”.
In other K-pop news, boyband Stray Kids have announced their new single ‘Lose My Breath’, a collaboration with Charlie Puth. The song has been described as a “warm-up” for an upcoming Korean album by the boyband, slated for release sometime this summer.
